Name, title & company name?
Leyla Tindall, Managing Director, Tindall Perry Partnership.
In five words, tell us what your business does?
Finance, Accounting and Executive Recruitment.
When did you know that you wanted to set up your own business and what made you finally take the plunge?
During the recession in a previous company, A senior member of the company devised a poor strategy for the business that didn’t work for clients or employees. I was fed up of not having my suggestions heard and decided I could do it better myself.
What’s the best thing about your job?
Working with so many talented and inspirational people.
And the worst?
What one thing do you think the Government should do to help small businesses?
Banish auto-enrolment and reduce dividend tax again. As a business owner, I am expected to invest, take risks to grow my business but still pay the same tax as an employee. Where’s the incentive if I don’t want to sell?
Who do you most admire in business?
I really admire a Manchester based Digital Entrepreneur called Lawrence Jones of UK Fast. He rewards loyalty and talent at the same time as instilling great principles into his business.
If you could give one piece of advice to small business owners, what would it be?
Trust your instincts and don’t be put down by your inner chimp!
If you hadn’t set up your company, what do you think you’d be doing instead?
Working for someone else, possibly with less headaches but less fun and flexibility.
